Business advocacy groups predicted an avalanche of uncertainty, headaches and costly fines if New York City mandated paid sick time at every company with at least five workers.
So far, the law’s impact has been extremely modest.
Zero fines have been levied under the new law in the first six months. And furthermore, just one worker has received money from their boss as a result of a complaint, according to an analysis of Department of Consumer Affairs data published by the Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
